¶Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.1

- The old standard of measurement was a cubit equal to 18 inches or 45.7 centimeters. The new standard, a cubit of approximately 21 inches or 53.3 centimeters (the long cubit) is the basic unit of length throughout Ezekiel 40 to 48.
Now these are the foundations which Solomon laid for the building of the house of G-d. The length by cubits after the ancient measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.
