Σαμψών (שִׁמְשׁון from שֶׁמֶשׁ, 'sun-like', cf. Hebrew אִישׁון from אִישׁ) (Buttmann, 15 (14)), ὁ, Samson (Vulg. Samson), one of the Israelite judges (שֹׁפְטִים), famous for his strength and courage, the Hebrew Hercules (cf. BB.
