אֶלְדָּד proper name, masculine (God has loved, compare Sabean ורראל DHMZMG 1883. 15; see also יְדִידְיָה) one of the elders Num 11:26; Num 11:27 probably = אֱלִידָד Num 34:21 where called a prince of Benjamin. — On proper names with אֵל compare those with אָב & אָח, & especially Nöl.c.,, & (Sabean) DHMEpigr. Denkm. 88.
