While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts,1 He asked, “How can the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David?

And continuing, Jesus said while1 teaching in the temple courts,2 “How can the scribes say that the Christ is David’s son?
- *Here “while” is supplied as a component of the participle (“teaching”) which is understood as temporal
- *Here “courts” is supplied to distinguish this area from the interior of the temple building itself
And teaching in the temple, answering Jesus said, How do the scribes say that Christ is the son of David?
