αἰσχύνω (αἶσχος, shame), [in LXX chiefly for בּוּשׁ ;] __1. to disfigure (Hom.). __2. to dishonour (Pro.29:15). __3. to make ashamed (Sir.13:7). Pass., to be put to shame, be ashamed: 2Co.10:8; Php.1:20, 1Pe.4:16, 1Jn.2:28; with inf. (M, Pr., 205), Luk.16:3 (cf. ἐπ- (-ομαι), κατ- αἰσχύνω). † (AS)

αἰσχύνομαι — aischýnomai
αἰσχύνω: (αἶσχος (cf. αἰσχρός));
1. to disfigure: πρόσωπον, Homer, Iliad 18, 24, and many others.
2. to dishonor: the Sept. Pro 29:15.
3. to suffuse with shame, make ashamed: Sir 13:7. In the N. T. only passive, αἰσχύνομαι; future αἰσχυνθήσομαι; 1 aorist ᾐσχύνθην; to be suffused with shame, be made ashamed, be ashamed: 2Co 10:8; Php 1:20; 1Pe 4:16; μή αἰσχυνθῶμεν ἀπ' αὐτοῦ that we may not in shame shrink from him, 1Jn 2:28 (Sir 21:22 αἰσχυνθήσεται ἀπό προσώπου (Isa 1:29; Jer 12:13; cf.
