to wail
ἀλαλάζω (onomat. from the battle-cry ἀλαλά), [in LXX chiefly for רוּעַ hi., יָלַל ;] prop, to raise a war-cry, shout with triumph or joy; rarely of grief, to wail: Mrk.5:38 (cf. Jer.4:8); of a cymbal, ἀλαλάζον (RV. clanging), 1Co.13:1 (cf. ὀλολύζω).† (AS)

ἀλαλάζω; (from Pindar down);
a. properly, to repeat frequently the cry ἄλαλα, as soldiers used to do on entering battle,
b. universally, to utter a joyful shout: Psa 46:2; Psa 65:2; and in secular writings c. to wail, lament: Mar 5:38 (הֵילִיל Jer 4:8; Jer 32:20 ); cf. ὀλολύζω, Latinululare. (Synonyms: see κλαίω at the end)
