I. [עָשַׁת] verb smooth or shiny (?), si vera lectio (compare עֶשֶׁת); — only Qal Perfect 3 plural שָֽׁמְנוּ עָֽשְׁתוּ Jer 5:28 (figurative) they have grown fat, they are smooth (or shine, from fat); doubtful word, Thes conjecture עָֽשְׁרוּ have grown rich (compare ᵐ5 ᵑ6 ᵑ7), so Gie (but וַיַּעֲשִׁירוּ precedes, vJer 5:27).



II. [עָשַׁת] verb Hithpa`el think (Aramaism: Biblical Aramaic Participleעֲשִׁית, ᵑ7 אִתְעַשַּׁת); —

Hithpa`el Imperfect 3 masculine singular לָנוּ ׳יִתְעַשֵּׁת א Jonah 1:6 perhaps God will give a thought to us (compare חשׁב Ps 40:18).



[עֲשִׁת], עֲשִׁית (K§§ 38, 1 a); 17, 2. Anm. 2) verb think, plan (Biblical Hebrew II. עשׁת (q. v.) as Aramaism; ᵑ7 אִתְעַשֵּׁת, not Syriac); — Perfect 3 masculine singular (strictly Passive participle NöGGA 1884, 1019; Syr. Gr. § 280 M78*) ׳ע Dan 6:4, followed by infinitive, plan to so and so.
