And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

- 4:3The word ‘iris’ is not translated as ‘rainbow’ in this context because a rainbow is not similar to an emerald. The word ‘iris’ can also refer to an iridescent stone, which could well be similar to an emerald.(Conte)
