λιθάζω — litházō

λιθάζω: 1 aorist ἐλίθασα; 1 aorist passive ἐλιθάσθην; (λίθος); to stone; i. e., a. to overwhelm or bury with stones, (lapidibus cooperio, Cicero): τινα, of stoning, which was a Jewish mode of punishment (cf. Winers RWB under the word Steinigung; (B. D. under the word, III. a. 1)): Joh 10:31-33 (where λιθάζετε and λιθάζομέν are used of the act of beginning; (cf. Winers Grammar, § 40, 2 a.; Buttmann, 205 (178))); Joh 11:8; Hob. 11:37.
