ὑποδείκνυμι: future ὑποδείξω; 1 aorist ὑπέδειξα; from Herodotus and Thucydides down; the Sept. several times for הִגִּיד;

1. properly, to show by placing under (i. e. before) the eyes: ὑπέδειξεν αὐτοῖς τόν πλοῦτον αὐτοῦ, Est 5:11; add, Sir 49:8; (others give ὑπό in this compound the force of 'privily'; but cf. Fritzsche on Matthew, p. 126).

2. to show by words and arguments, i. e. to teach (for הורָה, 2Ch 15:3) (A. V. frequently, to warn): τίνι, followed by an infinitive of the thing, Mat 3:7; Luk 3:7; to teach by the use of a figure, τίνι, followed by indirect discourse, Luk 6:47; Luk 12:5; to show or teach by one's example, followed by ὅτι, Act 20:35; to allow i. e. make known (future things), followed by indirect discourse Act 9:16.
