  1. 1. Agagita: Amán no pertenece al linaje de aquel Agag, rey de los amalecitas, del cual habla I Reyes capítulo 15, sino que lleva su nombre, tal vez, de la ciudad meda de Agag. En 16, 10 es llamado macedonio. Algunos toman el nombre de Agag en sentido espiritual: así como Agag y los amalecitas se distinguieron por su odio al pueblo de Dios, así Amán se convirtió en enemigo implacable de los judíos que vivían en el reino de Asuero.

2 1Por lo cual todos los siervos del rey que estaban a la puerta del rey, doblaban la rodilla y se postraban ante Amán; porque así lo había mandado el rey acerca de él. Solo Mardoqueo no doblaba la rodilla ni se postraba.

8 1Entonces dijo Amán al rey Asuero: “Hay un pueblo esparcido que vive disperso entre los pueblos de todas las provincias de tu reino. Sus leyes son diferentes de las de todos los pueblos, y no cumplen ellos las leyes del rey. No le conviene al rey tolerarlos.
