Victoria de los judíos
1 1En el duodécimo mes, que es el mes de Adar, el día trece del mismo, cuando había de ejecutarse la orden del rey y su edicto, y cuando los enemigos de los judíos creían obtener el dominio sobre ellos, sucedió todo lo contrario; pues los judíos prevalecieron contra quienes los odiaban.

Colígese de esto que el primer edicto del rey estaba aún en vigencia, pues los edictos de los reyes persas eran irrevocables (cf. 8, 8). “Este capítulo es el más duro de todo el relato. Parece que los judíos no se limitaron a defenderse de sus enemigos, como el edicto decía, sino que pasaron a la ofensiva, y por su mano ejercieron la justicia contra los que habían tenido el propósito de darles muerte” (Nácar-Colunga). Para comprenderlo hay que tener presente cuan terribles son las venganzas que Dios toma de los enemigos de su pueblo (Salmo 104, 14 ss.; Joel 3, 1 ss. y notas).
2 Los judíos se reunieron en sus ciudades, por todas las provincias del rey Asuero, para echar mano de todos aquellos que buscaban perderlos; y ninguno pudo resistirles; pues el temor de ellos había caído sobre todos los pueblos.
