Fronteras de Judá
1 1El territorio que tocó en suerte a los hijos de la tribu de Judá, según sus familias, se extendía en el extremo meridional (del país), hasta el confín de Edom, hasta el desierto de Sin, al sur.

La ciudad de Jerusalén no le tocó en suerte a Judá, sino a Benjamín (18, 16 y 28). Allí habitaban en esa época los jebuseos, que más tarde fueron sometidos por la tribu de Judá, en cuyo poder cayó primeramente la parte occidental y, bajo David, también la fortaleza de los jebuseos (II Reyes 5). Valle de Ben Hinnom, o simplemente Valle Hinnom: se extiende al sur y en parte también al oeste de Jerusalén. Allí se levantó en tiempos de los Reyes una estatua de Moloc, que dio al valle el carácter de lugar de abominación. De ahí que su nombre, en hebreo Ge-Hinnom, en griego Gehena, fuese usado para designar el Infierno. Cf. IV Reyes 23, 10; Mateo 5, 22.
9 1Desde la cima del monte torcía la frontera a la fuente de las aguas de Neftoa y llegaba a las ciudades del monte de Efrón; luego la frontera seguía hacia Baalá, que es Kiryatyearim.

10 Desde Baalá se volvía la frontera al oeste, hacia el monte Seír, pasaba por la vertiente septentrional del monte Yearim que es Quesalón, bajaba a Betsemes y pasaba a Timná.
