Así como Dios lo comparó con la salida de Egipto, así también los acentos de Miqueas recuerdan los de Moisés en Éxodo 15. La nota característica de este epílogo es la alegría, que tiene su origen en la seguridad de saber que Dios ha perdonado las culpas (cf. Isaías 43, 25; Daniel 9, 24). En su infinita misericordia las arrojará a lo más profundo del mar (versículo 19), donde los pecados de Israel quedarán invisibles. Los Padres y comentaristas antiguos han aplicado esta frase al paso del Mar Rojo y también al Bautismo. Allí fueron destruidos los egipcios de tal modo que los israelitas jamás volvieron a verlos (Éxodo 14, 13). Del mismo modo Dios entrega para siempre al olvido nuestros pecados cuando en el Bautismo somos “sepultados con Cristo en la muerte” (Romanos 6, 4). Es toda una imagen de la gracia divina, la cual, infundida en nuestra alma mediante la justificación, produce como primer efecto la destrucción de la noche atroz del pecado (Sto. Tomás).
