El becerro se toma como figura de la capital Samaria porque en ella se concentraba la falsa política y la idolatría del reino. Cf. 10, 5. El ídolo proviene de Israel, y no de otro país. Con sus propias manos fabricaron el becerro. Por esto se agrava su culpa. Yahvé no reconoce esas imágenes, aunque Israel las dedicó a Él y no a Baal, porque su majestad nada tiene que ver con un buey (Números, capítulo 32).
6 Pues ese (becerro) es obra de Israel; lo hizo un artífice, y no es Dios; por eso será hecho pedazos el becerro de Samaria.

10 1Mas aunque den regalos a las naciones, ahora voy a juntarlas (contra ellos), y por algún tiempo temblarán bajo la carga del rey de los príncipes.
