  1. 4. El rey Mesó se erigió en aquel tiempo (798 ó 797 a. C.) un monumento de piedra, en el cual se atribuye triunfos sobre Amrí y Acab, reyes de Israel, y se exalta a si mismo diciendo que Israel ha perecido para siempre. El monumento, descubierto en 1869, es conservado en el Museo del Louvre. Es la primera inscripción hebraica que llegó hasta nosotros. La música calma el ánimo excitado del profeta y lo dispone a recibir la revelación (cf. Sto. Tomás, Suma Teológica II-II, q. 172, a. 3). Cf. I Reyes 16, 23. Para los falsos profetas la música servía de instrumento de autosugestión, como lo observamos hoy todavía en los derviches.
