עֵין מִשְׁפָּטּ proper name, of a location Gen 14:7 = קָדֵשׁ (בַּרְנֵעַׅ q. v. (ᵐ5 τὴν πηγὴν τὴν κρίσεως; on significance of name compare RSSem i. 165, 2nd ed. 181).



II. קָדֵשׁ proper name, of a location (sacred; but perhaps originally קֶדֶשׁ and pointing artificial to distinguish from ׳ק in N); —

1. Καδης: in south of Judah Gen 16:14 (J), Gen 20:1 (E), in מִדְבַּר פָּארָן Num 13:26 (P), specifically צִן ׳מ Num 20:1; Num 33:36, compare קָדֵשׁ ׳מ Ps 29:8 on western border of Edom Num 20:16 (E), Num 33:37 (P), compare Num 20:14 (E), vNum 20:22 (P), Judg 11:16; Judg 11:17 (hence RobBR ii. 175, 194 sought it at `Ain Weibeh, in west of Arabah); long adobe of Israel during Exodus.
