En el mismo sentido cita este pasaje el Papa Benedicto XV en la Encíclica “Spiritus Paraclitus”, donde dice a los predicadores: “¿Cómo podría nuestra alma prescindir de ese alimento? ¿Y cómo es posible que el sacerdote señale a los demás el camino de la salvación si él mismo descuida instruirse por la meditación de la Escritura? ¿Y con qué derecho podría jactarse de ser en el ministerio sagrado el guía de los ciegos, la luz de aquellos que andan en tinieblas, el doctor de los ignorantes, el maestro de los niños que halla en la Ley la regla de la ciencia y de la verdad (Romanos 2, 19) si se niega a escudriñar esta ciencia de la Ley y cierra la entrada de su alma a la luz de lo alto? ¡Ah cuántos ministros sagrados, por haber descuidado la lectura de la Biblia, perecen ellos mismos de hambre y dejan perecer un grandísimo número de almas!” Cf.
