1 Es kam aber eine Hungersnot über das Land, wie schon früher einmal eine zur Zeit Abrahams geherrscht hatte; darum begab sich Isaak nach Gerar zu dem Philisterkönig Abimelech1.

7 Als nun die Bewohner des Ortes sich nach seiner Frau erkundigten, sagte er: »Sie ist meine Schwester«; er scheute sich nämlich zu sagen: »Sie ist meine Frau«; »denn«, dachte er, »es könnten sonst die Leute des Ortes mich um Rebekkas willen ums Leben bringen; sie ist ja von großer Schönheit«.

Wie hast du sie da für deine Schwester ausgeben können?« Isaak antwortete ihm: »Ja, ich dachte, ich müßte sonst ihretwegen sterben.«

12 Isaak säte dann in jenem Lande und erntete in jenem Jahre das Hundertfache; denn der HERR segnete ihn.
