I. [עָלַל] verb Po`el, act severely (toward) (Late Hebrew id., deal with (rare), and derivatives; Arabic do a thing (drink, beat, give) a second time, II. divert, occupy, see divert, occupy oneself with (food, a woman, etc.); Syriac cause, occasion, affair); — act severely, always with ל person: Perfect 2 masculine singular עוֺלַלְתָּ לִי Lam 1:22 as thou hast acted severely to me (in punishment, subject׳י); ׳לְמִי ע Lam 2:20 to whom hast thou acted thus severely ? 3 feminine singular עֵינִי עוֺלְלָה לְנַפְשִׁי Lam 3:51 my eye deals severely with me, i.e. gives me pain (?; text dubious; compare PerlesAnal.18 Bu). עִלָּה noun feminine matter, affair, occasion (Syriac , see Biblical Hebrew I. עלל); — absolute ׳ע Dan 6:5 (twice in verse); Dan 6:6 ( = ground of accusation).

[עֲלַל] verb go or come in (ᵑ7 Syriac; see Biblical Hebrew III. עלל); —

Pe`al Perfect 3 masculine singular עַל Dan 2:16 with עַל person vDan 2:24 with לְבַיְהֵתּ Dan 6:11, so 3 feminine singular עללת Kt, עַלַּת Qr Dan 5:10 Participle עללין Kt, עָלִּין Qr, absolute Dan 4:4; Dan 5:8.
