Oráculo contra Egipto y Etiopía

Tartán: no nombre propio, sino título que llevaban los jefes de los ejércitos asirios (cf. IV Reyes 18, 17). El rey Sargón es el segundo de este nombre. Reinó de 722 a 705 a. C. tomó la ciudad de Samaria y envió en 711 otro ejército a Palestina, que se apoderó de Azoto (Asdod), ciudad de los filisteos. Se trata de una profecía simbólica, puesto que el profeta ha de sacarse el vestido y los zapatos. Su cumplió la profecía en las guerras que los reyes asirios, especialmente Asarhaddón (681-669) hicieron contra Egipto y Etiopía (cf. 19, 4 y nota). Fue para mostrar a los judíos la debilidad del coloso egipcio en el cual habían puesto su esperanza. De ahí la exclamación al final del capítulo (versículo 6). “Isaías no tuvo empacho de dejarse ver en tal estado, despreciando la confusión, y fue figura de la humillación de Jesucristo y de su desnudez en la Cruz” (Páramo).
2 en ese tiempo habló Yahvé por boca de Isaías, hijo de Amós, diciendo: “Ve y quítate el cilicio de sobre tus lomos, y sácate el calzado de tus pies.” Y él lo hizo así, yendo desnudo y descalzo.

La isla es Judá, por estar situada entre Asiria y Egipto y expuesta a todas las tormentas de la política internacional de entonces. El pueblo de Judá debe conocer cuan vano es confiar en hombres y alianzas.
