  1. 1. En cuanto a la forma literaria, este capítulo es uno de los más hermosos. Es una elegía sobre Tiro, capital de Fenicia y emporio importantísimo, que parecía inexpugnable. Por eso el rey de Judá creía poder apoyarse en la misma, como en Egipto, contra los asirlos. La visión tiene por objeto convencer al rey de lo vano de sus esperanzas. Naves de Tarsis: los buques de mayor tonelaje que hacían la travesía de los mares occidentales y llegaban hasta Tarsis, probablemente Tartessus, situada en España. De vuelta de Tarsis pasaban las naves por Kitim o Asia Menor, y allí se les da a los navegantes la noticia de la destrucción de su patria. No hay casa ni entrada: el puerto no existe más.
