Una inmensa enseñanza se desprende de aquí para juzgar el problema de nuestro tiempo. Mucho se repite que la salvación está en volver a Dios. Pero se piensa más bien en los ateos que desconocen su existencia, y no se piensa bastante en los que se consideran creyentes y solo confían en la fuerza de sus manos, mirando a Dios solo como a un juez cuyos mandatos hay que cumplir, y no como al Padre sin el cual nada podemos, y que está deseando ayudarnos y solo espera que recurramos a Él sin vacilar. La apostasía, que está anunciada para los últimos tiempos (Lucas 18, 8; II Tesalonicenses 2, 3) no puede ser solamente la de los ateos, sino la de los que se llaman creyentes y sin embargo dudan, porque no alimentan su fe con la palabra de Dios. No es la existencia de Dios lo que hoy se niega teóricamente: es, en la práctica, su Providencia, su actividad, su amor de Padre que nos demostró dándonos su Hijo, y la necesidad que nuestra naturaleza perversa tiene de su gracia redentora, sin la cual no somos capaces de ninguna virtud.” Como se expresa en el versículo 13, la recompensa es para el que confía.
