En el presente capítulo renueva el profeta las grandes promesas. “El desierto por donde retorna Israel se convierte en un país fértil; el pueblo de los rescatados gozará en Sión de una felicidad eterna” (Crampón). En la Biblia se alegran hasta el desierto y la tierra árida, saltan de gozo los montes (Salmos 88, 13), se ciñen de regocijo los collados y los valles alzan su voz y cantan himnos de alabanza (Salmos 64, 13); el sol parece como esposo que sale del tálamo y exulta cual gigante que recorre su camino (Salmos 18, 6). De esta suerte la naturaleza exhala el calor de la alegría divina y lo derrama en el alma del creyente.
2 1Florezca magníficamente y exulte, salte de gozo y entone himnos. Pues le será dada la gloria del Líbano, la hermosura del Carmelo y de Sarón; se manifestará la gloria de Yahvé, y la magnificencia de nuestro Dios.

Pero, no obstante los gloriosos términos en que lo anunciaban los profetas (cf. 9, 7 y nota), el dulce yugo de Jesús fue rechazado por la fuerza (Juan 1, 11; Mateo 11, 12; Lucas 16, 16) y quedaron entonces sin cumplir aquellas profecías de gloria (Mateo 11, 14; 17, 10-13) de las cuales Él dio como un anticipo en la Transfiguración (Marcos 9, 1 ss.), cumpliéndose en cambio los vaticinios dolorosos (cf. capítulo 53; Salmos 21 y 68, etc.), a pesar del deseo de los buenos amigos de Jesús (Marcos 11, 10; Mateo 21, 9; Lucas 19, 38; Juan 6, 14 s.; 12, 13-15). De ahí el desahucio final que Él formuló a la Sinagoga incrédula (Mateo 23, 39; Salmos 117, 26), como también sus palabras a Pilato (Juan 18, 36 s.) y las de San Pablo en Romanos 11, 26, citando a Isaías 59, 20.
