Dios es tan alto que tú no puedes perjudicarle por tu iniquidad, ni serle útil por tu justicia. Son tus prójimos los que experimentan las consecuencias de tu conducta, pero no Dios. Esto prueba que sus mandamientos no contienen ningún capricho suyo —pues nada puede dañarle a Él— sino enseñanzas destinadas a nuestra felicidad temporal y eterna, e inspiradas por su amor paterno y su sabiduría. 7 Si eres justo, ¿qué le das con ello? o ¿qué recibe Él de tu mano?

Alude a la objeción que Job formula en 24, 12 (cf. nota), y nos da este profundo tema de meditación: ¡qué prontos estamos para quejarnos del dolor, como animales que solo oyen el instinto!, pero ¿quién piensa en admirar y agradecer tantas otras maravillas que nos da nuestro Padre Celestial? ¡Qué no daría un rico ciego si pudiera comprar a un pobre sus ojos! Y el que los tiene, ni se acuerda de ello. De ahí que Dios se muestre a veces sordo a nuestros gritos (versículo 12) aunque muy bien los recuerda su corazón para el tiempo oportuno (versículo 13). Eliú concluye que solamente la gran paciencia de Dios en tolerar tales quejas (versículos 14-15) explica el que Job haya podido proferirlas sin ser castigado (versículo 16).
