Juan “puesto que ejerce una autoridad sobre la comunidad; no parece que haya usurpado el poder, pero abusa de él” (Bonsirven). El que gusta primar (filoproteuon, etimológicamente significa el que ama el primer puesto): vemos ya producirse en la primitiva Iglesia estos casos del misterio de iniquidad (2 Ts. 2, 6) que Jesús caracterizaba en Mc. 12, 38-40 y S. Pedro prevenía en 1 Pe. 5, 3. No le bastaba dominar sino que excluía a los que no estaban con él (v. 10), aunque fuesen enviados del Apóstol. “Verdaderas excomuniones, dice Mons. Chante, que tendían a dividir a la Iglesia en dos fracciones rivales”. Cf. 1 Jn. 3, 12; 2_Jn. 1 y notas.
