13 Il ne rappellera point sa colère 1 ; les monstres marins qui sont sous le ciel ont plié sous lui. écouté ; il le prie de ne point lui inspirer la crainte qui le trouble et l’empêche de démontrer son innocence.

14 S’il m’écoutait ; s’il voulait mes paroles,

17 Oh ! qu’il ne me broie pas en un tourbillon ; mais il m’a fait une multitude de plaies sans cause 1.

21 Car si j’ai péché, je n’en ai pas conscience, et néanmoins la vie m’est arrachée.

- Littéralement le puissant est mis ici pour le méchant, dont l’antique race des géants dépravés était restée le type dans ces temps reculés. On sait que le livre de Job est le plus ancien de la Bible.
23 Les méchants meurent d’une manière funeste ; mais les justes sont tournés en dérision 1

24 Ils sont livrés aux mains des pervers ; et le Seigneur a voilé la face des juges 1. Et si ce n’est lui, qui est-ce donc ?

25 Ma vie est plus rapide qu’un coursier ; mes jours ont fui, et ils n’ont pas vu le bien 1.

26 Les navires laissent-ils une trace, ou l’aigle qui vole et cherche sa proie ?
