οὐχί

οὐχί — ouchí

οὐχί, equivalent to οὐ, not, but stronger (cf. νυνί at the beginning);

a. in simple negative sentences, by no means, not at all (A. V. not): Joh 13:10; Joh 14:22; 1Co 5:2; 1Co 6:1; followed by ἀλλά, 1Co 10:29; 2Co 10:13 (L T Tr WH οὐκ); in denials or contradictions (A. V. nay; not so), Luk 1:60; Luk 12:51; Luk 13:3; Luk 13:5; Luk 16:30; Rom 3:27.

b. in a question, Latinnonne? (asking what no one denies to be true): Mat 5:46; Mat 10:29; Mat 13:27; Mat 20:13; Luk 6:39; Luk 17:17 (L Tr WH οὐχ);; Joh 11:9; Act 2:7 Tr WH text; Rom 2:26 (L T Tr WH οὐχ); 1Co 1:20; Heb 1:14, etc.; (the Sept. for הֲלֹא, Gen 40:8; Jdg 4:6); ἀλλ' οὐχί, will he not rather, Luk 17:8.
