1. transitive, to lead under, bring under (Latinsubducere); so in various applications in the Greek writings from Homer down; once in the Scriptures, ὑπηγαγε κύριος τήν θάλασσαν, for הולִיך, he caused to recede, drove back, the sea, Exo 14:21.
2. in the N.
