Demostrando la fidelidad de Dios. Jesús confirmó a Israel las promesas hechas a los patriarcas (cf. 9, 4 s.; 11, 20) y les declaró expresamente que ni una iota de la Ley ni de los profetas dejaría de cumplirse “hasta que pasen el cielo y la tierra” (cf. Mt. 5, 17; 23, 39, etc.). Esas promesas, como observa Fillion, “anunciaban que el Mesías traería la salud especialmente al pueblo teocrático”, y así lo recuerdan también los apóstoles. Cf. El Libro de los Proverbios confirma muchas veces cómo es más fácil enseñar al ignorante que al persuadido de saber algo, pues este difícilmente se coloca en la situación del discípulo ávido de aprender.
