1 Thou, therefore, my child, be empowering thyself in the favour that is in Christ Jesus,

οὐδεὶςoudeisNo [one]G3762A-NSM στρατευόμενοςstrateuomenosserving as a soldierG4754V-PMP-NSM ἐμπλέκεταιempleketaientangles himselfG1707V-PMI-3S πραγματείαις,pragmateiaisaffairs,G4230N-DPF στρατολογήσαντιstratologēsantihaving enlisted himG4758V-AAP-DSM ἀρέσῃ.aresēhe may please.G0700V-AAS-3S 5 If, moreover, any man, contend even in the games, he is not crowned, unless, lawfully, he contend;

ἀπιστοῦμεν,apistoumenwe are faithless,G0569V-PAI-1P ἐκεῖνοςekeinosHeG1565D-NSM πιστὸςpistosfaithfulG4103A-NSM μένει·meneiremains;G3306V-PAI-3S ἀρνήσασθαιarnēsasthaito denyG0720V-ADN ἑαυτὸνhe'autonHimselfG1438F-3ASM δύναται.¶dunataiHe is able.G1410V-PNI-3S 14 Of these things, be putting [them] in remembrance, adjuring [them] before God not to be waging word-battles,—useful, for nothing, occasioning a subversion of them that hearken.
