Chapter 4
1 Finally, then, brethren, we beseech and exhort you, by our Lord Jesus, that as you learned from us how you ought to walk and please God, you would abound more and more.

οἴδατεoidateYou knowG6063V-RAI-2P παραγγελίαςparangeliasinstructionsG3852N-APF ἐδώκαμενedōkamenwe gaveG1325V-AAI-1P Ἰησοῦ.IēsouJesus.G2424GN-GSM-P 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you keep yourselves from lewdness;
ἐστινestinisG1510V-PAI-3S θέλημαthelēma[the] willG2307N-NSN θεοῦ,theouof God,G2316N-GSM-T ἁγιασμὸςhagiasmossanctificationG0038N-NSM ὑμῶν,humōnof you:G4771P-2GP ἀπέχεσθαιapechesthaiTo abstainG0568V-PMN ὑμᾶςhumasyou [are]G4771P-2AP πορνείας·porneiassexual immorality;G4202N-GSF 4 That each one of you know how to keep his vessel in sanctification and in honor,

πάθειpathei[the] passionG3806N-DSN ἐπιθυμίαςepithumiasof lustG1939N-GSF καθάπερkathaperasG2509CONJ ἔθνηethnēGentilesG1484N-NPN εἰδόταeidotaknowingG6063V-RAP-NPN θεόν·theonGod;G2316N-ASM-T 6 That no one take advantage of or injure his brother in this matter; because the Lord takes vengeance for all such things, as we also told you before, and fully testified:

ἐκάλεσενekalesenhas calledG2564GV-AAI-3S ἀκαθαρσίᾳakatharsiaimpurityG0167N-DSF ἁγιασμῷ.hagiasmōholiness.G0038N-DSM 8 Therefore, he that despises, despises not man, but God, who has given us his Holy Spirit.

But we exhort you, brethren, that you abound in love more and more,

περιπατῆτεperipatēteyou may walkG4043V-PAS-2P εὐσχημόνωςeuschēmonōsproperlyG2156ADV μηδενὸςmēdenosof no oneG3367A-GSN χρείανchreianneedG5532N-ASF ἔχητε.¶echētemay have.G2192V-PAS-2P 13 But concerning those who have fallen asleep, I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that you may not grieve, as others who have no hope.
