Como se deduce del v. 5, algunos fariseos que habían abrazado a fe inquietaban a los paganos convertidos, diciendo que estos no podían ser bautizados si antes no se hacían judíos por medio de la circuncisión. Es de notar que los perturbadores no tenían ninguna autoridad por parte de los apóstoles (v. 24) y que negaban virtualmente la salvación por la fe en Jesucristo.

2 Pablo y Bernabé tuvieron con ellos no poca disensión y controversia. Por lo cual resolvieron que Pablo y Bernabé y algunos otros de entre ellos1 subieran a Jerusalén por causa de esta cuestión, a los apóstoles y presbíteros.
