Chapter 7
1 Know ye not, brethren (for I speak to those that know the law), that the law has dominion over a man [only] as long as he lives?

ὕπανδροςhupandrosmarriedG5220A-NSF ζῶντιzōntilivingG2198V-PAP-DSM δέδεταιdedetaihas been boundG1210V-RPI-3S νόμῳ·nomōby law;G3551N-DSM ἀποθάνῃapothanēshall dieG0599V-2AAS-3S κατήργηταιkatērgētaishe has been clearedG2673V-RPI-3S ἀνδρός.androshusband.G0435HN-GSM 3 So then if, while [her] husband lives, she belongs to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law so that she is no adulteress if she belongs to another man.
ζῶντοςzōntoswhile is livingG2198V-PAP-GSM ἀνδρὸςandroshusbandG0435HN-GSM μοιχαλὶςmoichalisan adulteressG3428A-NSF χρηματίσει,chrēmatiseishe will be calledG5537V-FAI-3S γένηταιgenētaishe shall become [married]G1096V-2ADS-3S ἑτέρῳ·heterōanother;G2087A-DSM ἀποθάνῃapothanēshall dieG0599V-2AAS-3S ἐλευθέραeleutherafreeG1658A-NSF ἐστὶνestinshe isG1510V-PAI-3S εἶναιeinaito beG1511V-PAN μοιχαλίδαmoichalidaan adulteressG3428A-ASF γενομένηνgenomenēnhaving become [married]G1096V-2ADP-ASF ἑτέρῳ.¶heterōanother.G2087A-DSM 4 Likewise ye also, my brethren, are become dead to the law in the body of the Christ that ye should belong to another, [even] to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

[Is] the law sin? No, in no wise. But, I did not know sin except by the law; for [neither] would I have known lust if the law did not say, Thou shalt not covet.

For without the law sin was as if it were dormant.

ἔζωνezōnwas aliveG2198V-IAI-1S χωρὶςchōrisapart fromG5565PREP ἐλθούσηςelthousēswhen was comingG2064V-2AAP-GSF ἐντολῆςentolēscommandmentG1785N-GSF ἁμαρτίαhamartiasinG0266N-NSF ἀνέζησεν,anezēsenrevived,G0326V-AAI-3S 10 And I found that the [same] commandment, which was unto life, was mortal [unto me].
εὑρέθηheurethēproved to beG2147V-API-3S ἐντολὴentolēcommandmentG1785N-NSF θάνατον·thanatondeath;G2288N-ASM 11 For sin, having had occasion, deceived me by the commandment and by it killed [me].
ἁμαρτίαhamartiasinG0266N-NSF ἀφορμὴνaphormēnan occasionG0874N-ASF λαβοῦσαlabousahaving takenG2983V-2AAP-NSF ἐντολῆςentolēscommandmentG1785N-GSF ἐξηπάτησένexēpatēsendeceivedG1818V-AAI-3S ἀπέκτεινεν·apekteinenput [me] to death;G0615V-AAI-3S 12 So the law is truly holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.
νόμοςnomosthe law [is]G3551N-NSM ἐντολὴentolēcommandment [is]G1785N-NSF δικαίαdikaiarighteousG1342A-NSF ἀγαθή.agathēgood.G0018A-NSF 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? No, in no wise. But sin, to show itself sin by that which is good, worked death in me, making sin exceedingly sinful by the commandment.

ΟἴδαμενOidamenWe knowG6063V-RAI-1P πνευματικόςpneumatikosspiritualG4152A-NSM ἐστιν,estinis,G1510V-PAI-3S σάρκινόςsarkinosfleshlyG4560A-NSM πεπραμένοςpepramenossoldG4097V-RPP-NSM ἁμαρτίαν.hamartiansin.G0266N-ASF 15 For that which I do, I do not understand, and not even the [good] that I desire [is what] I do; but what I hate, that [is what] I do.
κατεργάζομαιkatergazomaiI doG2716V-PNI-1S γινώσκω·ginōskōI understand;G1097V-PAI-1S θέλωthelōI wantG2309V-PAI-1S πράσσω,prassōI do,G4238V-PAI-1S μισῶmisōI hateG3404V-PAI-1S 16 If then I do that which I do not desire, I approve that the law [is] good.
θέλωthelōI do wantG2309V-PAI-1S σύμφημιsumphēmiI consentG4852V-PAI-1S 17 So that it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells in me.
νυνὶnuniIn that caseG3570ADV οὐκέτιouketino longerG3756PRT-N + G2089 κατεργάζομαιkatergazomaiam doingG2716V-PNI-1S οἰκοῦσαoikousais dwellingG3611V-PAP-NSF ἐμοὶemoime myselfG1473P-1DS ἁμαρτία.hamartiasin.G0266N-NSF 18 And I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing; for I have the desire, but I am not able to perform that which is good.

συνήδομαιsunēdomaiI delightG4913V-PNI-1S θεοῦtheouof GodG2316N-GSM-T κατὰkataaccording toG2596PREP ἄνθρωπον,anthrōponman,G0444N-ASM 23 but I see another law in my members which rebels against the law of my mind, bringing captive unto the law of sin which is in my members.

So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.:
