Chapter 4
1 The temptation and fasting of Christ: 13 He overcomes the devil: 14 Begins to preach: 16 The people of Nazareth admire his gratious words: 33 he cures one possessed of a devil, 38 Peter’s mother in law, 40 and diverse other sick persons. 41 The devils acknowledge Christ, and are reproved for it: 43 he preaches through the cities.
1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungry.

And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?

I know you who you are; the Holy One of God.

And when the devil had thrown him in the middle, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they sought him for her.
