  1. 1. David, figura de Cristo, perseguido por sus enemigos deslenguados, sin duda en tiempo de Saúl, pide a Yahvé tome su defensa y aplique el castigo que merecen. Es una oración preciosa en las persecuciones que el discípulo de Cristo ha de sufrir en este siglo malo (Gálatas 1, 4) en que, como otro Saúl, difunde terror Satanás (cf. Juan 14, 30). El ideal pagano diría “Sé hombre” y defiéndete tú contra tus enemigos. El creyente, desde el Antiguo Testamento, recurre a Dios, conociendo la propia debilidad, y Jesús lo confirma enseñando: “No resistáis al malvado” (Mateo 5, 39 ss.; I Corintios 6, 7), porque Dios se encarga de ello (Romanos 12, 19).
