Chapter 20
1 And it came to pass, that, on one of those days, while he was teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes, with the elders, came to him,

But the vine-dressers scourged him, and sent him away empty-handed.

But they scourged him also, and treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.

I will send my beloved son; perhaps, when they see him, they will reverence him.

What, then, will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

And when they heard it, they said: Be it not so!

Whose image and superscription has it? They answered and said: Cæsar’s.

And they were astonished at his answer, and were silent.

καταξιωθέντεςkataxiōthenteshaving been considered worthyG2661V-APP-NPM ἐκείνουekeinouthat [one]G1565D-GSM τυχεῖνtucheinto obtainG5177V-2AAN ἀναστάσεωςanastaseōsresurrectionG0386N-GSF νεκρῶνnekrōn[the] deadG3498A-GPM οὔτεouteneitherG3777CONJ-N γαμοῦσινgamousinmarryG1060V-PAI-3P γαμίζονται·gamizontaiare given in marriage;G1061V-PPI-3P 36 For they can die no more; for they are like the angels, and are the sons of God, being the sons of the resurrection.
