1 And it occurred, on His going into a house of one of the Pharisee leaders on a sabbath to eat bread, even they were closely observing Him.

And taking the man , He cured him and let him go.
ἡσύχασαν.hēsuchasanthey were silent.G2270V-AAI-3P ἐπιλαβόμενοςepilabomenoshaving taken hold [of him]G1949V-2ADP-NSM ἰάσατοiasatoHe healedG2390V-ADI-3S ἀπέλυσεν.¶apelusenlet [him] go.G0630GV-AAI-3S 5 And answering to them He said, Whose ass or ox of yours shall fall into a pit, and he will not at once pull it up on the sabbath day?

ἴσχυσανischusanthey were ableG2480V-AAI-3P ἀνταποκριθῆναιantapokrithēnaito replyG0470V-AON ταῦτα.¶tautathese things.G3778D-APN 7 And He spoke a parable to those who had been invited, noting how they were choosing out the chief seats, saying to them,
ἜλεγενElegenHe was speakingG3004GV-IAI-3S κεκλημένουςkeklēmenousinvitedG2564GV-RPP-APM παραβολὴνparabolēna parableG3850N-ASF ἐπέχωνepechōnremarkingG1907V-PAP-NSM πρωτοκλισίαςprōtoklisiasfirst placesG4411N-APF ἐξελέγοντο,exelegontothey were choosing out,G1586V-IMI-3P λέγωνlegōnsayingG3004GV-PAP-NSM αὐτούς·autousthem;G0846P-APM 8 When you are invited by anyone to wedding feasts, do not recline at the chief seat lest one more honorable than you be invited by him,

And then you begin with shame to take the last place.

Then glory will be to you before those reclining with you.

ὑψῶνhupsōnis exaltingG5312V-PAP-NSM ἑαυτὸνhe'autonhimselfG1438F-3ASM ταπεινωθήσεται,tapeinōthēsetaiwill be humbled,G5013V-FPI-3S ταπεινῶνtapeinōnhumblingG5013V-PAP-NSM ἑαυτὸνhe'autonhimselfG1438F-3ASM ὑψωθήσεται.¶hupsōthēsetaiwill be exalted.G5312V-FPI-3S 12 And He also said to him who had invited Him, When you make a dinner or supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they also should invite you in return, and it become a repayment to you.

δοχὴνdochēna feastG1403N-ASF ποιῇς,poiēasyou may makeG4160GV-PAS-2S κάλειkaleido callG2564GV-PAM-2S πτωχούς,ptōchous[the] poor,G4434N-APM ἀναπείρους,anapeirous[the] crippled,G0376A-APM χωλούς,chōlous[the] lame,G5560A-APM τυφλούς.tuphlous[the] blind.G5185A-APM 14 and then you will be blessed, for they have nothing to repay you. For it will be repaid to you in the resurrection of the just.
μακάριοςmakariosblessedG3107A-NSM ἔσῃ,esēyou will be,G1510V-FDI-2S ἔχουσινechousinthey haveG2192V-PAI-3P ἀνταποδοῦναίantapodounaito repayG0467V-2AAN ἀνταποδοθήσεταιantapodothēsetaiIt will be recompensedG0467V-FPI-3S ἀναστάσειanastaseiresurrectionG0386N-DSF δικαίων.¶dikaiōnrighteous.G1342A-GPM 15 And one of those reclining with Him , hearing these things, he said to Him, Blessed are those eating bread in the kingdom of God.

εἶπενeipenHe saidG2036V-2AAI-3S αὐτῷ·autōto him;G0846P-DSM ἄνθρωπόςanthrōposA manG0444N-NSM ἐποίειepoieiwas preparingG4160GV-IAI-3S δεῖπνονdeipnona supperG1173N-ASN ἐκάλεσενekaleseninvitedG2564GV-AAI-3S πολλούς·pollousmany;G4183A-APM 17 And he sent his slave at the supper hour to say to those who had been invited, Come, for now all is ready.

The first said to him, I have bought a field, and I have need to go out and see it; I ask you, have me excused.

Then being angry, the housemaster said to his slave, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and maimed and lame and blind ones.

εἶπενeipensaidG2036V-2AAI-3S δοῦλον·doulonservant;G1401N-ASM ἔξελθεexelthedo go outG1831V-2AAM-2S ὁδοὺςhodoushighwaysG3598N-APF φραγμοὺςphragmoushedgesG5418N-APM ἀνάγκασονanagkasondo compel [them]G0315V-AAM-2S εἰσελθεῖνeiseltheinto come inG1525V-2AAN γεμισθῇgemisthēamay be filledG1072V-APS-3S 24 For I say to you that not one of those men who had been invited shall taste of my supper.

And turning, He said to them,

ὅστιςhostisWhoeverG3748R-NSM βαστάζειbastazeicarriesG0941V-PAI-3S σταυρὸνstauroncrossG4716N-ASM ἑαυτοῦhe'autouof himselfG1438F-3GSM ἔρχεταιerchetaicomesG2064V-PNI-3S δύναταιdunataiis ableG1410V-PNI-3S εἶναίeinaito beG1511V-PAN μαθητής.¶mathētēsdisciple.G3101N-NSM 28 For who of you desiring to build a tower does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has the things to finish;
θέλωνthelōnis desiringG2309V-PAP-NSM πύργονpurgona towerG4444N-ASM οἰκοδομῆσαιoikodomēsaito buildG3618V-AAN καθίσαςkathisashe having sat downG2523V-AAP-NSM ψηφίζειpsēphizeihe countsG5585V-PAI-3S δαπάνηνdapanēncostG1160N-ASF ἔχειecheihe hasG2192V-PAI-3S ἀπαρτισμόν;apartismon[its] completion?G0535N-ASM 29 that having laid a foundation, and not having strength to finish, all those seeing begin to mock him,

πᾶςpasevery oneG3956A-NSM ἀποτάσσεταιapotassetaidoes give upG0657V-PMI-3S ἑαυτοῦhe'autouhis ownG1438F-3GSM ὑπάρχουσιν,huparchousinpossessions,G5225V-PAP-DPN δύναταιdunataiis ableG1410V-PNI-3S εἶναίeinaito beG1511V-PAN μαθητής.¶mathētēsdisciple.G3101N-NSM 34 The salt is good, but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be seasoned?
ΚαλὸνKalonGood [is]G2570GA-NSN ἅλας·halassalt;G0217N-NSN μωρανθῇ,mōranthēashall become tasteless,G3471V-APS-3S ἀρτυθήσεται;artuthēsetaiwill it be seasoned?G0741V-FPI-3S 35 It is not fit for soil nor for fertilizer; they throw it out. The one having ears to hear, let him hear.
